Going to try to start this series tomorrow.. I've been reading above that its hard to get threw but i'll try to push past..

The first book is a bit confusing as there is a lot of world building and character introduction to get through. It's still very good.

You guys were right. I'm only about 15% in to Magic Burns and I'm already loving it. (I read book 1 about a year ago and didn't care enough for it to continue the series.)
I jumped back in at book 2, and although there are things I might have picked up on if I had reread book 1, I'm not feeling lost at all. There have been a couple small info-dump passages that are just enough to fill me in on relevant backstory. Kate's internal dialogue is funny! One thing I did like about book 1, and I'd forgotten about, is how well written the fight scenes are. Makes me want to go buy old Jackie Chan movies!

LOVE!

This book made me forget what it was I didn't like about Magic Bites.

The fight scenes are written cinematically - I can visualize everything and it's awesome. I should have bookmarked some of Kate's funnier quips, but I was too busy reading to take the time for bookmarking. smile

I'm still laughing, and shaking my head, at the absurdity of Kate walking inside of a giant tortoise to meet the Oracle. Adding that bizarre situation to Kate's dry humor made it downright hilarious!

"My werewolf was allergic to tortoises. Why me?"

She's about to walk into a giant tortoise, slosh through turtle spit, and meet with witches who may or may not be friendly. And she's why-me'ing over Derek's sneezes. roflmao

Anyway, I thought this book was a perfect blend of action, horror, fantasy, romantic tension, and mystery. I wasn't even aware that a blend of horror and romance was possible, but it's there! wine

But dammit, why didn't Kate lean into Curran's pysch-out kiss? She knew (from the soup!) that he was interested in her. Then he shows up to make her coffee, and was reading the Princess Bride! The man was putting the moves on her and she just stood there without reacting. Idiot!!

I'm debating reading a short (non-Magic) book in between Books 2 and 3....decisions, decisions.

I want to slow it down and pace myself for the release of Magic Slays. *psst, showme, get reading!!* But it's so hard to resist that tension between Kate and Curran. Rawr! curran

There are several scenes, some from each book, written from Curran's POV. The first is their first meeting, the second is when he gives her the soup...
