JOSH-POLL No.1 - Won by AJFOR THOSE THAT ARE YET TO READ JOSH'S WORK
(crazy as that seems)
HERE ARE SOME LITTLE SNIPPETS
TO HELP YOU CHOOSE THE BEST
"Josh Duo"
I have tried to include a mix of the HAWT and the humourous
STRANGER THAN FICTION (Petit Morts Book 7)
MICHAEL and ETHAN"I think I can do better than the Phantom of the Dojo."
"... he glanced down at the green and gold label and had to bite back a laugh at the words
Extra Virgin. That about summed it up."
"I like you." Michaels voice was low. "I liked you the first day I saw you. You were sitting on the floor surrounded by books, and you looked up when I opened the door and smiled right at me. It felt like you had been waiting for me, like you were welcoming me home."
ICECAPADE
NOEL and ROBERT"If you think the earth moved just now, imagine what'll happen when I fuck you."
".... no more games."
"I thought you liked games."
"Not with you. Not anymore. No."
"Did anyone ever tell you, you look like an angel?... The first time I saw a photo of you, I thought, anyone who looks that innocent has to be wicked as hell. Then I thought, how can I get him to look at me like that?"
"The first time I saw you, I thought, I could love that guy."
HOLMES AND MORIARITY
KIT and JX"...you know that thing about Death Be Not Proud? Well, Fear Be Not Proud either. And Fear Be Not Elegant. What Fear be is a stumbling, bumbling flight, crashing through brush, slip-sliding on pine needles, sloshing through puddles that are always deeper than you expect."
Not as intolerable as being dead, in my opinion, but I'm very fond of me. I would miss me a lot.
I pulled out a clean pair of levis - relaxed fit because even if forty is the new thirty, this time round I'd rather be comfortable..
".... I really don't think we have time for that."
"You know that, and I know that, but he doesn't believe it."
"Believe it, " I told him.
J.X.'s mouth tugged into one of those heart stopping smiles. "Maybe you should whisper in his ear."
And insanity though it was - and at my age no less - I got down ..... "
"Oh, fuck," I whispered. Usually I'm better at dialogue.
He took my big suitcase with his free hand - jeez, random acts of kindness practiced right before my very eyes.
J.X.: "Does it bother you so much?"
Yes. It did. And I wasn't sure why - unless it was the idea that three nights with me had turned him straight?
"I thought I recognized you."
Really? He remembered me looking like Swamp Thing? How flattering."
Part of that beauty, though, was the longing in his eyes. No one had ever looked at me like that. As though I mattered more than anything else. It was salve to my wounded ego, but it was a weight on my heart too. How did anyone live up to that?
THE GHOST WORE YELLOW SOCKS - let the journey begin.
PERRY and NICK"Tall, dark and hostile."
"Girls don't interest me," Perry explained, as though spelling out the facts of life. "Guys like you interest me."
Nick dropped his cornbread.
Nick gazed into the Bambi eyes and said harshly, "Are you asking if you were the first guy I've ever been with? Don't be dumb."
"I didn't think you learnt those moves by osmosis..."
Puppy kisses, Puppy love ...Nick watched him go - tight little ass and those long coltish jeans-clad legs ...
"I don't need a snow globe to remind me of you."
FAIR GAME - make love, not war.
TUCKER and ELLIOTElliot had never known anyone who took up more metaphysical real estate than Special Agent Tucker Lance.
"Christ. You've got a complaint about how I handled things? You're the biggest asshole on the planet, but you've got a complaint about how I treated you? Let me try and understand. Wasn't I sensitive enough? Wasn't I supportive when you needed me? Wasn't I understanding of what you were going through?"
"Well at least you're not holding a grudge," Tucker said finally, mildly.
"The heavy breathing is a nice touch," Tucker remarked.
"Go. To. Hell."
"Wear something sexy."
"Asshole."
"That will certainly work."
"
Elliot," Tucker whispered, breaking contact for a moment. The heat of his breath was against Elliot's face, hypnotizing, bewildering. His mouth touched Elliot's again, and Elliot could feel his name - and a question - formed against his skin. Just that. Just
Elliot?....
"Are you fucking out of your mind?..... what the hell's the matter with you?"
"
You're what's the matter with me," he cried. "Why did you have to come back?"
"I can't figure out where you put all that," Tucker observed. "You eat like a horse."
"It goes straight to my cock"
"I asked you to move in with me. That's what I want. I don't need an excuse. The excuse was for your sake."
"It was dark."
"I'd know you in the dark, Tucker."
"Yeah. I'd know you too."
This was it. This was the crossroads. He thought he'd left it miles behind, that the decision had been made for better or for worse, but as though he'd travelled in a circle, here it was again: the turning point - a second chance if he wanted it.
"If you even try to die, I'll kill you myself."
DANGEROUS GROUND
WILL and TAY"Yeah, you do. You're desperate for it. You don't fool me, " Will murmured. "If you were a cat you'd be purring..."
"The only reason you're not dead already is I want him."
Taylor chuckled, although there wasn't a lot of humour in it. "Either you don't have a lot of faith in yourself or you're seriously underestimating my .... charms."
"'You're purring again,' Will said unsteadily, starting to laugh. 'That is...beautiful...'"
He'd known it would be sweet, but this was almost unbearable, his heart swelling with so much... feeling for Will. Such a terrible tenderness and longing and ... love.
"Oh, to be 20 and psycho again."
"...I'm with you because I love you."
There it was, out. Three little words. Three of the most commmon words in the world, but string them together and they were more powerful than any warrant, any extradition papers, or even treaty. Stronger than any magical spell.
"Some day you're going to have to tell me where you learned some of those esoteric skills of yours."
"Boy Scouts."
"You weren't in the Boy Scouts."
"True. I knew one or two, though." He spared a wink ...
"Just so you know, if I had to be shackled to someone, I'd choose you. Every time."
He saw the glimmer of Taylors teeth as he curled his lip into something that was not exactly a smile. "Just a wild and crazy romantic, aren't you, Agent Brent?"
"Yep, little man, I am."
"The bottom line is, I want to wake up beside you every morning, and I want to go to bed with you every night. I don't care who knows. And I don't care what we have to do to make that happen. I like my job, but I love you. There's no question of what takes priority here."
That dawn kiss beneath the pine trees rippled through him like an electric shock, a reminder that, tired, wet, and lost as they might be, so long as they were together, they were all right.
Better than all right. Much better.
DARKLING THRUSH - new beginnings
SEPTIMUS and COLINSeptimus fell upon me like the wolf upon the fold, and it was both alarming and delightful to be ravished with such enthusiastic thoroughness.
"I've thought of you every day for the past eight weeks."
"You should have said." I gasped as his mouth transferred to my other nipple.
Simple, uncomplicated sex. What could be better?
The supreme idiocy : I'd fallen in love with my executioner.
Septimus's voice sounded thick as he said, " I love you. Do you not understand that? If it were possible, I'd die in your place."
"What is this effect you have on me?" Septimus groaned.
ADRIEN ENGLISH SERIES
ADRIEN and JAKEI wanted Jake. I wanted Jake at that instant like some wild thing wailing for the moon. I wanted him so much, I could have cried. I wanted him now, and I wanted it be three years ago when I had loved him without fear, when I hadn't realised he could hurt me enough to cripple me, destroy me.
His glance slid my way. "You know this won't be an easy thing, Adrien."
"The investigation you mean?"
"No." He gave me that crooked smile. "No, I don't mean that."
... despite myself I started to smile.
"I don't want you that way," he said. "I know you. It wouldn't be the same."
Swell. He preferred humiliating strange men in costume to kissing a man he knew. And presumably liked.
"Why can't you say it?" I hardened my voice. "Because I'm telling you, you never have. I'd have remembered."
He stared at me with disbelief . . . .
"
Love you? Of course I love you. Baby, I fucking worship you."
I thought maybe I didn't need to worry about my heart anymore because it had stopped beating a couple of seconds earlier, and I was still sitting there living and breathing - though admittedly I wasn't feeling much of anything.
"Adrien..."
I smiled. "I know."
But I didnt, because what he said was, "I want you in my life - you can set the parameters."
..."I never meant to get involved with you, Adrien."
"Rest easy; you're not."
"Yeah, I am."
"Still beautiful though, " he murmured. "The most beautiful guy I've ever known."
"I've always been grateful - even when I was married, even when I thought it was over between us - that it was you I fell in love with."
THIS ROUGH MAGIC
BRETT and NEILHow did that work for someone as sensitive and intelligent as Brett?
He could have hugged Rafferty, but then he'd been feeling that way from the minute he'd first laid eyes on him.
"Neil is a member of my club."
If Rafferty had been a man given to blushing, he'd have blushed then. He couldn't quite get a handle on Brett Sheridan. At times he seemed bolder than brass and at other moments, as shy as a young girl.
"Why did you do it?"
"Huh?"
"What you did tonight." ....... "What you did for me."
For me.
It softened him in a way Rafferty found alarming. He made himself say with casual indifference, "I don't know. I guess I wanted to."
"You would do that?" Brett spoke without inflection.
"Yes."
"Why?"
Because there's nothing I won't do for you...
"You know what you need?" Rafferty asked ..... "A stiff drink and a hot meal."
"At this point I'll take a hot meal and a drunk stiff."
Rafferty laughed. "Come on. I'll feed you."
Brett laughed. "Now you're showing off."
He was, of course. "Are you impressed?"
Brett looked up, and just for an instant, his face was soft and unguarded. "From the minute I saw you."
"I don't want to get rough with the monkey," Rafferty warned him..... "Get it. and don't try any funny business."
Maybe the
monkey misunderstood and heard monkey business...
"I don't know what that means to people like us. I don't think there's any future in it. But there's no future without you either."
"I've known plenty of guys, I even loved a couple of them, but I've never felt about anyone the way I feel about you. I never will. Somehow you know when it's the real thing, and this is the real thing for me."
IN A DARK WOOD
TIM and LUKE"Across the table and two faces down there was this very attractive guy, a few years older than me, with dark hair and crinkly hazel eyes... "
".... his lashes lifted and he caught my eye. I couldn't look away. He couldn't look away either. It's like tractor beams locked on. People were going to notice. My face felt hot, but that was probably the spicy sea dragon bass."
"His heart was thumping from a million miles out ... echoing across the universe ...
"Christ Almighty," he moaned. "Please tell me you're just the same sober."
He leaned forward and kissed me, his mouth warm and insistent. His eyes met mine. "And just so you know, that's hello."
My gut tightened remembering Luke's comments. Well, fuck him.
Oh yeah, I already did
....... gotta stop there - dont want to totally ruin it all but hope you are sorely tempted to buy! buy! and read! read!
