"burped the worm"

That is the first humorous thing in this book. It's actually pretty depressing.

There is a lot of fear and soul searching in this book. It's really not a comedy.

Books don't go bad if you leave them, Sabby. Reading is supposed to be relaxing. You can really put Special Forces off until you have nothing more pressing to do.

Sorry you're having busy RL times, Dopp. I've been there myself. It sucks even when it's positive stuff it's still busy.

I'll be bummed if this book is a stinker. All the reviews made it seem like it was the best book out there.

I liked Hot Head and will read the second one in the series. I was a bit surprised at how much reviewers seemed to LOVE it. I wouldn't classify it as a stinker. I've read much worse books.

Well, the weather here is atrocious so no one is coming into my office. I took the opportunity, although I have stacks of work to catch up on, to finish....

starHot Head star

The literary references are pretty obvious, so I probably shouldn't even mention them. Main characters Griffin and Dante. Dante's Inferno....Hot Head...Griffin rising from the ashes....dark hair and red....smoke and fire.....hot head....inferno.....I am sure you guys will pick up more. A truly classic case of burning need and desire.

Hmmmm.....I don't even know how to begin. Just about 75% into this story I was thinking that I could never, ever recommend this book to anyone. Let me try to explain. This is the most intensly personal book I have ever read. Like reading someones diary. I sort of wanted to keep their story to myself. Asking others to read their story would be like showing pictures of your best friend's wedding night behind her back. I just didn't want to "out" them. I am still not quite sure why they made me feel so protective. I knew how Griff felt since it was his pov, but I wasn't sure until more than half way or more that Dante probably felt the same. And then I was a little confused because Griff was really confused. By the time it was obvious how Dante felt; I just wanted to protect them and not let them get hurt. By the time the story was over, I had changed my mind. Okay.....here it is. Read it if you want to. But keep in mind that they are very fragile in their new love. Don't embarrass or upset them. God, I act like they are real people. I am feeling very damn protective of fictional characters. Fierce almost.

Griffin and Dante. Remember the names. Did I like it? heart heart heart heart heart Yes.

Being protective makes some sense. Kind of. LOL Especially thinking of the scene in the bank when Griff was wishing Dante's niece was their child and he was worried Dante looked upset and she told him it was all okay, Dante was just missing him. And the way she calls the guy with the biggest most tender heart Monster was adorable.

Umm, it's a Phoenix that rises from the ashes.

Yeah I'm not sure about my feelings on this one. It was a nice story but not great, just my opinion. It was a bit serious, I didn't laugh till nearly the end with Dante and Beth. I probably wouldn't re-read it. But the character are lovely and well written, just too much sex and porn stuff and not enough plot personally for me.

Right...Phoenix.....Gryffin was the lion, eagle thingy....still, works for me! LOL Griff was so protective of Dante. Risked everything to save him from the fire. Fierce.

The sex scene on the couch might be the single best sex of any genre I have ever read. Not just hot. Tender, possessive. Loving....claimed everything of Dante's as his..... heart I think it was their fear, though, that made me feel so protective. I just wanted to tell them that everything was okay....I would never tell. They could trust me with their story. Very intense and emotional without being a tear jerker. Griff was so scared. So afraid that Dante could be hurt like Tommy if people knew. It was just...sad. That fear. And realistic. Damon Swede put me right in Griff's mind. Really good writer. To me.

The next book is Hard Head featuring Tommy. No information on when it might be published.

GC--- roflmao I know! One of my first impressions was that I really didn't need to know that much about jerking off! roflmao But I finally fell in love with the story. Especially after Tommy got hurt and I began to see how truly terrified Griff was. More scared for Dante than himself. The porn stuff really didn't bother me too much..... wtf ...(is this Shay posting?) It became pretty obvious at some point that Dante was setting this up. That whispered...G at the end of his first video I thought so...and then I didn't...and then I wondered....As far as plot goes, this was a total romance story where the relationship is the only plot. IMO.

Well.....all GAY romances have a certain sort of angxty, underlying "plot" or sorts, but not a lot. I LOVE romance. sigh.....I don't really know when it started, either. I think it started with...ahem...Ethan Day! I don't ever remember actually looking for romance novels before him. Now I don't care if its gay or het, historical or contemporary, action, adventure, mystery or a silly day at the beach. I have started liking them better than anything. Of course, I have loved paranormal romance for ages, but now it can be just plain people.

Well, I'm pissed. Just wrote a whole thing and accidently deleted it. Now, I just want to cry!!

Ok, so here I go again..

star star Hot Head star star

I absolutely loved this book! All the Jerking off was a bit much but other then that I thought the story was pretty deep and emotional.

At the begining when Griff was remembering 9/11 I swear I almost broke down. 9/11 is something that always makes me very emotional. So many good people lost there lives on that day. DS made me feel like I was in Griffs head so much that I swear I was getting panicky. The emotions he had after that day were heart breaking.

Now Shay said above that she felt like while she was reading this that it felt like she was reading a diary. I understand that feeling. It was like Griff's personal thoughts were on display for us to fully see. Not to many books I have ever read where you really feel like you understand what the characters are really thinking. Yes, you get the basic idea of how they feel but this was more intense I think. Atleast that is how I felt.

Dante was great. Even though it was not from his point of view I was really able to see how sad he was. I don't know about anyone else but I felt like he was trying so hard to open to Griff but at the last minute he would just shut down. There were 2 places in the story that I felt he was trying to get G's attention but Griff would get stuck in his thoughts and then try to laugh it off. Once, when he went over for that first dinner and Dante's sister showed up and the next time was when he told Griff that he loved him. Griff thought it was a brotherly thing but I swear it felt like Dante was trying to let him know but was having so much trouble getting his own confused thoughts out. Once they finally got together I laughed at all the times Dante became jealous of every person looking at Griff. When he wore that Kilt! You just got to love a man in a Kilt!

I really liked Beth. It is so amazing how just a small part for a funny character can make the book even better. She was just awesome.

I think Tommy's book will be another emotional one. His beating in this book really broke my heart. Now, I think he could have handled it a lot differently with his family but to have his wife's brothers beat him to almost the point of death is beyond fucked up.

It's a sad day when being who you are can get you killed.

I happen to agree with you about the sex scene. It wasnt just two men going at it. There was honest to god raw emotion in that scene. Hell, through the whole book I felt like I was literally in Griff's mind. It takes alot of good writing to make a person feel like there in someones mind. Usually I always feel like I am standing on the side lines watching everything that is going on but DS made me feel the whole book like i was in his mind. It was a different experience that's for sure..

heart starbrites......Yes! Exactly! heart What a great group read.

And, since I just read a book that I really, really liked a lot, I will add this. Hot Head was beautifully constructed. The kindle version just flowed. If there were any mistakes they were minor enough that I didn't notice. Continental Divide, on the other hand, had enough mistakes to be a little problematic...and I freakin' loved the story! Agravating.....

OK so I just started and let's say that a hot man in a kilt and a fireman to boot. Dang. Anyway, I think the guy with his girlfriend starting that fight with the Russian guy in a suit was because the guy who called the Russian the f*gg*t word which I really don't like that word...was because he probably had an affair with the Russian and was ashamed so he had to act all tough. That being said I wonder is Dante is so over the top and pushing his prowess limits in front of Griff because he may like Griff and doesn't know how to confront his feelings. Almost like little boys bullying or teasing the girls they like. And that bathroom scene was kind sad and hot. Ok, have to get the car washed and drop off my sis's taxes. Maybe I'll get some pages read while waiting for both.

Ok, so where the heck is Dante and why is he worrying everyone after that very sad but funny wake up moment. This is my theory...he got in with the wrong people and he is in financial or other trouble and he tells Griff I'll only let you pay the debt and for my townhouse if you move in...which will test him and eventually he will admit to Dante his feelings.
